Update as of 2/27/08: Here is what Jenny's foster mommy had to say: Well, the surgery is behind us. Jenny came through in flying colors on Monday. Both eyes were operable. The cataract in the left eye was removed and the lense was replaced - EXCELLENT! In the right eye (the eye that was the riskiest) the cataract was replaced, but because of the distortion of the eye, the lense couldn't be replaced (this means that her near vision in that eye will not be 100%). Her re-check, the day after surgery, showed great healing progress.
Jenny has discovered another dog in the full length mirror in my bathroom. Yesterday she was very reticent and gave that dog a wide berth, today her tale is wiggling (it's too short to wag) like crazy and she gets really excited everytime she sees the other pup. This is so funny to watch.
Again, thank you so much for your generosity, prayers, on-going care, and support.
Update as of 3/25/08: We did a last minute plea for donations and came close enough yesterday to be able to send Jenny into surgery. (we were only $554.88 short but some donations may still be trickling in)
Jenny's surgery was done by Dr. Good with the Animal Eye Center (Rocklin, CA) and not only did Dr. Good do an amazing job on Jenny's eyes, but Dr. Linton (the owner of the eye clinic) gave Jenny a very generous rescue discount. (Thank you to Dr. Good and Dr. Linton!). Jenny went home last night to her foster mommy and daddy (who are so attached they are adopting her) and for the first time, she could see what they looked like. She is now inspecting their home, looking at things she couldn't see before. She had learned her way around their home, but now she can look up and see her surroundings. She is very curious and her foster mommy tells me it is amazing to watch Jenny move around with her new vision.
Jenny had her first eye recheck today and the doctor says she looks great . . . so far, so good.
I want to thank each and every one of the generous animal lovers who made donations so that Jenny could get this truly life changing surgery. You all have collectively changed the entire way this little girl is going to live in the world. I will be posting new pictures soon when Jenny's foster mommy gets them to me.
Because of you, this sweet little dog is going to have the fantastic life that she deserved! I thank you all, from the bottom of my heart! With much gratitude and love, Cathy and Jenny and the Camp Cocker doggies!
